Happy Birthday, Grandma!

I must take a moment here to wish my Grandma a Happy Birthday.  I love my Grandma for many reasons, but chief among them — she loves to cook and I love to sit in the kitchen and wait for delectable goodies to fall to the floor. I think she appreciates my help when they do. I mean I’m cute AND I clean. What more could a Grandmother ask in a Granddog?

But onto the post…

Day Two Without

When we first started the blog, I was kind of hesitant. “Who’s going to read it?” I asked Gretchen.

“Our clients, our families, friends, friends of friends,” she reassured me.

Still, I found it hard to believe that my words – the humble and simple thoughts of a Labradoodle – would be worth reading. Over the almost two years of writing this blog, though, I’ve come to depend upon the daily, solitary introspection reflecting on my day and reflecting on deeper thoughts as well.

So when our internet went down, I was surprised at how hard I took it. “What? You mean I can’t write tonight?” I tantrumed for a while.

“I know, Rubin,” Gretchen said, “We’ve grown so used to it, but 10-15 years ago, we wouldn’t have even had this ability.”

“You’re kidding, right?” I was dumbfounded.

“Nope. Back in the day,” she explained, “we would have had to leave a note for our clients and while we could still leave them with photos of the month’s events, there’s no way we could have posted them for the whole world to see.”

Astonishing.

So while I feel odd writing today’s events knowing it’s not going to be posted until our internet is fixed (next Monday, cross your paws!), I guess it could have been worse. I could have been a dog dog walker way back when and never had the chance to share my life and thoughts with the world.

Today is Thursday. And while sometimes we have busy Thursdays, today was not. First up was Woobie who we picked up on our way home from school. She was thrilled, as always to see us, and we went on a walk through the park and back to our house so Woobsters (that’s what Gretchen calls her) could spend some time with me. It’s nice to have her company.

Gretchen left us to walk Rosie who one day is just going to have to get over her apprehension and meet me. I mean, how bad can it be?

But not today. Today Rosie and Gretchen took a nice spin up through the neighborhoods checking out the weather conditions as well as the flowers. Most of the tulips are gone, but some very beautiful trees are in bloom and everything is might green what with all this funky weather. And Gretchen focused on Rosie’s beautiful face. Maybe that’s why she’s name Rosie because she’s as beautiful as a Rose?

After Rosie, Gretchen came home to have some lunch. Woobie and I were both happy to see her. What with Gretchen’s new job, she’s not been home as much in the evenings and frankly, I kind of miss her.

After lunch, Woobie and I went with Gretchen to pick up Saber who was happy to have not only me for a playmate, but Woobie as well. Only Woobie isn’t as interested in Saber as Saber is in her. He doesn’t take offense, though. Nope, he just slams into me like it’s no big deal.

I’m going to be home alone for a while as Gretchen goes back to the hydrotherapy pool again tonight. And she’s working on Friday night as well. I’m kind of bummed, though I’ve heard rumors that I’ll get to go to work with her on Saturday and that means I’ll get to test drive the spa.

Not a bad deal, eh? And yes, I’ll be sure to write about it! I mean, you are out there reading it, aren’t you?

Until tomorrow,

Rubin
